Lost 156 oz due to short circuit
I stopped pumping 3 weeks ago. I had a large freezer stash that I’ve been going through. Today when I went to my milk freezer (which is in my garage) to get a ziplock out for today I noticed right away that they are liquid. I was hysterical. Called my husband bawling while he’s at work. Told me to go through every bag right away and find if there is anything salvageable. At first glance it seemed like everything was gone. But once I calmed down a little bit I started going through each milk bag one by one. Whatever had even a little bit of frozen chunk left I kept, whatever was fully liquid I had to put in the discard pile. It was so sad.
Whatever was still a little frozen I was putting them in our other chest freezer that has other food and packed raw meat which I didn’t want to put together but at that moment I was like whatever I need to do to keep my milk frozen I don’t care right now. Then I noticed one of our frozen fruit jars in this second freezer was also liquidy. I was like wait somethings not right even this freezer is not working then I noticed the power light is not on. My milk freezer and this freezer are plugged in 2 different plugs. Then my husband on the phone told me to go through every switch on the circuit breaker and turn them off and on again. Still nothing. I brought my milk bags inside the house and somehow managed to fit everything in the freezer that’s connected with the refrigerator.
I also called up my dad and he told me to push that reset button that was on one of the other plugs in the garage. Then that turned everything back on again.
But I am so sad. At first I thought maybe I didn’t close the milk freezer door properly it’s my fault I was so careless. But after noticing half the garage basically didn’t have power I didn’t feel that sad because it’s not anyone’s fault. My husband also put some milk away in the freezer so I thought one of us probably didn’t close it all the way. But that wasn’t the case. Then he thought maybe he was using one of his garden tools like the triller or leaf blower and that might have caused a short circuit but he didn’t use anything in the last 2 days. The last time I got milk out from my freezer was 2 days ago and everything was frozen then. So this must have happened in the last 2 days. But I don’t know if it was less than 24 hours so better to be safe and not use them for feeding.
I didn’t throw them away, I need some ideas on how I can reuse them. My baby has eczema on her left knee so I know I can use it in her baths. What else?
It will take me a few days to recover emotionally from this. It hurts more because I stopped pumping. It’s only been 3 weeks could I try pumping again and make milk come again?
