Kyoto Accomodation Solo Traveller?

Hello! I am a 22F going to be solo travelling. I aim to stay in Kyoto for a week. During this week, I also plan to do day trips to Osaka, Nara and Uji.

I am unsure where is best for accommodation. Staying near Kyoto station would be easy when travelling to Osaka, but I heard it is far and inconvenient from the main areas in Kyoto.

Was wondering which areas may be the best for the situation I am in!
