HVAC Replacement | Decision Making Help
In the market to replace our HVAC (AC is dead and the furnace is on the last legs). I got 5 quotes and I have narrowed it down to the top (2) for a full AC + furnace replacement and could use some real-world input before I sign. Goal is a system that's low-hassle for the next 10-15 years - not chasing max efficiency, just want to avoid callbacks and premature failures.
Reference | House size: 1924 square ft
Quote 1:
- AC: American Standard 5A7A3, single-stage, SEER2 13.4 R-454B
- Furnace: American Standard SBX2, 2-stage, 80% AFUE
- Warranty: 10yr compressor/parts, 2yr labor (AC); 20yr heat exchanger / 10yr parts, 2yr labor (furnace)
- Accessories: Humidifier + 2000-series air cleaner included
- Price: $11,000 cash
Quote 2:
- AC: International Comfort Products (ICP) N5A4S36AKANA, N5A4S36AKANA 3 Ton Single Stage Up To 15.5 SEER2 R454B
- Furnace: ICP N80MSN0901714B, 1-stage, 80% AFUE
- Warranty: Same terms as above (10yr compressor/parts, 2yr labor; 20yr heat exchanger/10yr parts, 2yr labor)
- Accessories: Humidifier + air cleaner included (confirmed after initial quote)
- Price: $8,874 cash
While Quote 2 price is more attractive, I was told by a number of vendors that International Comfort Products are not of good quality and they will give you me trouble as a homeowner much more than American Standard or Bryant (is that true)?
Any thoughts and feedback is appreciated.
