How Canon are the Comics?
I'm currently working on a larger post about Tulkun hunting and for that I was doing research into the ISV's and their specifications. On the ISV page for the Avatar wiki there are some puzzling bits of lore. According to the Comics, Jake used an abandoned Valkyrie shuttle to train on a damaged ISV left by the RDA. It was then filled with unobtanium and explosives to fend off the RDA should they ever return. When they do return, Jake somehow boards the Venture Star to negotiate with General Ardmore. But this seems to completely contradict what we see in the opening for Way of Water. Jake is shown to be with his family on the moon when the RDA arrive and begin landing. How would it even be possible for Jake to maintain a shuttle for that, let alone use it to board an ISV? Even more confusing, why not detonate the damaged ISV to damage the approaching fleet? It just feels like a massive plot hole and a complete diversion from what we see on screen. So are the comics canon?
