Pixel's Heat Management Downgrade: Turning Into an iPhone for All the Wrong Reasons
I live in a country where summer temperatures easily hit 70 C under direct sunlight. Given that my job requires me to work on-site, I have noticed that the phone’s thermal management has taken a massive hit after the latest update; it is nowhere near as efficient as it used to be.
Here are two clear scenarios of what I am experiencing:
(Car Navigation): Since my car screen doesn't natively support Android Auto, I use a third-party app to mirror my phone. While running Google Maps in the intense heat, the built-in Gemini Assistant completely shuts down. A warning message pops up asking me to cool down the phone before it can accept voice commands—even for simple tasks like playing music!
(Outdoor Use): When walking under direct sunlight, the screen brightness drops drastically and much faster than before. The display becomes virtually unreadable. It genuinely feels like using an iPhone now—a device that only works under strict, ideal conditions imposed on you!
Previously, on Android 15&16, none of these issues existed. That superior thermal resilience was the exact reason I preferred a Pixel over an iPhone.
Are there any upcoming updates or fixes on the horizon to address this thermal management regression?
