I discovered my former boss of almost 4 years is a fugitive wanted for femicide. I worked with him every day and nobody knew. What would you do?

I never thought I would write something like this, but I genuinely need advice because I don’t know what the right thing to do is.

A few days ago, I discovered that someone I worked with for almost 4 years, someone who eventually became my boss and held a high-level position in the company — is allegedly the same person who has been wanted for a femicide case in Texas since 2021.

According to the news reports, in 2021 a 32-year-old Mexican man was accused of killing his 25-year-old girlfriend in Texas. The victim was Puerto Rican. The reports stated that she was stabbed multiple times and that her parents later found her body.

What shocked me the most was reading the victim’s mother’s testimony. She described their relationship as toxic. Her daughter wanted to leave him, but he would threaten to harm himself if she did. Her mother told her that she couldn’t stay in a relationship out of fear of what he might do, because he was an adult responsible for his own actions.

That night, they went to dinner at her parents’ house. She told them she was leaving. Her mother asked if she was sure, and she said yes. After that, they never saw her alive again. According to authorities, he fled and has been a fugitive ever since.

His family is originally from northern Mexico, and at the time there was even a reward offered for information leading to his location.

The part that I cannot process is this:

The same year this happened, 2021, this person started working at the company where I was employed in Yucatán, Mexico. For those unfamiliar with Mexico, Yucatán is extremely far from where his family is from, basically the opposite side of the country.

He started as a regular call center agent. He was good at his job and slowly moved up. First, he became a supervisor. Later, after a change in management, he became the Head of Operations for the entire operation.

We worked with him every single day.

Looking back now, there were things that feel very disturbing.

He was someone who always seemed on edge. He had a strong need for control. If people talked about him, he wanted to know. He would look into workplace conversations that he had no reason to access. He intimidated people who questioned him or brought attention to his mistakes.

At the time, we thought he was just a difficult person, a bad leader, or someone with a very controlling personality.

We never imagined something like this.

He was also married to another person who worked at the same company, but from what we understood, he was not open about that relationship with everyone.

Then one day, the CEO of the company announced that he was stepping away from his position temporarily to handle a personal matter and asked everyone to respect his privacy and his wife’s privacy.

The whole situation felt strange.

Shortly before that announcement, some people noticed his wife had been at a local prosecutor’s office. After the announcement, she went to collect his belongings with the building manager accompanying her.

Because he had other businesses, everyone assumed it was related to finances, fraud, or some kind of business issue.

Nobody imagined it could be something this serious.

When I found the news and realized it was the same person I had worked with for years, I felt sick.

The most disturbing question I keep asking myself is:

How did nobody notice?

He didn't change his name, but his last names are uncommon, and apparently searching only his first name and first last name doesn't immediately bring up information about the case. He also never shared his full name with any people at work.

As far as we know, he is still wanted.

So my question is:

What would you do in my situation?

Would you report the information to a tip line even if you don’t know his current location?
Would you contact the authorities handling the case directly?
Could there be any legal concerns about providing information based on a past workplace connection and personal observations?

I am not trying to make a public accusation or create unnecessary problems. I just feel that if someone is still a fugitive and someone has information that could potentially help authorities, maybe I should do something.

I am also struggling with the fact that someone we interacted with for years could have been hiding something like this.

What would you do?
