What telescope would you recommend for beginners?

Got interested in astronomy after seeing Jupiter through a friend's scope. Every recommendation thread ends in a debate and I still don't know what to buy.

Looking at Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ and Sky-Watcher Heritage 130P. Budget $300-600. Suburban area so light pollution is a factor.

Is the GoTo on the StarSense actually helpful for beginners, or is learning to find things manually part of the point? What telescope did you start with and would recommend?
