For LATAM sellers: the US is already the second-largest Spanish-speaking market
We've been tracking where new Doba sellers are signing up, and the growth from Brazil and across Latin America has been hard to miss. So we wanted to share something a lot of LATAM sellers overlook when picking a market to sell into.
Most assume selling to the US means marketing in English. It doesn't.
About 45 million people in the US speak Spanish, roughly 13.5% of the population. That makes the US the second-largest Spanish-speaking country in the world, behind only Mexico. There are nearly as many native Spanish speakers in the US as there are in Spain. For a Colombian, Mexican, or Argentinian seller, that means you can run Spanish-language ads to tens of millions of buyers with real purchasing power without writing a word of English.
Portuguese speakers in the US number over 730,000, and the Brazilian diaspora is estimated at over 2 million. Smaller, but brand-loyal and reachable in Portuguese.
The part that surprises people most: you don't have to live in the US to run a US store. With dropshipping products with us suppliers you ship from US warehouses to US customers at the 2-5 day speeds Americans expect. You're serving a US market without setting foot there.
The tradeoff is real competition. The sellers who win here niche down instead of going broad.
Who else here is selling into the US from outside it? What language are you marketing in, and how is it performing?
