I'm confused on how to buy avocados. I bought 2 ans they are dark green but hard are they still good to eat ?

I bought 2 hard dark green avocados i flicked the stem and it was green. Can I still use them? how many days should I wait to use them? i thought if you flicked the stem and they were green they're good
