What is everyone doing to keep their homes cool in the heatwave?

I’m in a new build, which means it holds the heat in when it’s hot out, and it’s freezing inside when it’s cold out. 😭

I’ve got a tall oscillating fan which is downstairs until just before I go to bed. Then I’ll put it in my room in the corner the side where the 2 wide open windows are. I’ve got a smaller fan that I face out the bathroom window.

I’ve tried everything, keeping the windows shut makes it hotter inside than out, as I have sun on either the front windows or back windows all day long. Keeping the curtains shut. All of this just builds up heat behind them.

Placing ice water in front of the fans, behind of the fans etc. nothing seems to make a difference.

I thought I was going to explode trying to sleep last night, and I fear tonight will be the same.

Any tips?
