The Peace in Being Understood
Sunflowers turn where the sunlight gleams,
Birds return home as if led by dreams,
Streams find the ocean through valleys wide,
The dawn arrives with the sun as its guide.
Rain pours itself without being told,
Life moves by laws no hands control.
I wish I were
The sun the sunflower searched to find,
The nest the weary birds kept in mind,
The ocean embracing each wandering stream,
The earth that welcomed the sunlight's beam,
The thirsty ground awaiting the rain.
I wish I were understood like nature
Known without explanation,
Felt without translation.
I wish someone would watch closely enough
To learn the language of my silences,
To notice the patterns in my tides,
To know what I carry without asking me to prove it.
Instead of saying I failed to explain,
Perhaps they could have stayed long enough to understand.
