Advice on improving Kids vocab skills | Sylvan Learning an option?

Hi all,

My 9-year-old hates reading and is falling behind in school. I've tried picking books at his lexical level and leveraging his bookworm brother to help spark an interest, but nothing is sticking.

I’ve heard good things about the local Sylvan Learning, but quotes are around $50/hr.

• Is Sylvan worth it, especially their reading program?
• Are there better alternatives or platforms you've used to find great private tutors? (I've checked local private listings but haven't found anyone highly vetted).
