Costa Rica Bird Photography

I'm going to Costa Rica for the first time in a month. The trip is actually a family trip, but i need to get in at least one bird focused day. They booked the Westin hotel. Im having difficulty finding a guide nearby. The hotel gave me a ridiculous price and to the wetlands. I don't think i want to spend that much to go to wetlands.

Anyone have tips or guides nearby?

Also your recommendations or thoughts on wetlands vs rainforest?

i'm traveling from the US. Is driving easy there? Should i rent a car?

Ive had success securing a local guide in St Lucia where they picked us up and for 4 people, the price was the same. Yet this hotel gave me that same price PER PERSON. And they have yet to answer my questions regarding the guide and how many species etc.

Anyway, bottom line is i need a local guide who can give me a ride from where I'm staying or if you say i can drive easily there, I'll rent a car. I'll keep searching but any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
