Super Top-up for parents
My parents (67 & 69) have had a Niva Bupa Super Top-Up policy for the last three years with a 25L cover and a 10L deductible, costing around 7K/year.
I'm considering buying a new super top-up policy and discontinuing Niva Bupa. My primary concern is their customer support—even getting basic policy changes done has been a frustrating experience. That makes me wonder how smooth the claim process would be when it's actually needed. I'm also not happy with the sub-limit on modern treatments in the policy. On top of that, the numerous negative experiences shared here have made me even more apprehensive.
At my parents' age, the only insurers willing to offer a new policy are Care & ManipalCigna. I'm leaning towards Care because:
- ManipalCigna offers a maximum cover of ₹30 lakh.
- Care offers up to ₹85 lakh.
One parent has diabetes, while the other has no PED. I am ok with the fresh waiting period.
My query is:
-
Does it make sense to switch from Niva Bupa to Care at this stage?
-
Is Care any better, or is the experience likely to be similar to Niva?
-
Another concern is that once I'm locked in, they may increase the premiums significantly. Is this possible?
Thanks
