Charging the 2026 X3 M50 battery overnight

I purchased a CTEK MSX 5.0 to start maintaining the battery in my 2026 X3 M50 overnight and on weekends. Im doing this because some mornings when I get in my car, the screen gives a warning that the car is in “energy saving mode” prob due to my driving habits (or lack thereof.)

Question: Should the battery be charged with the hood open or closed? I charged it last night with the hood fully open and this morning the CTEK was on step 7 (float) and the battery was reading 12.97V on my multimeter. I disconnected the leads and closed the hood and the car locked and made the beep sound. When I got in the car, the screen was showing the car was in energy saving mode 🤷‍♂️.

I’m seeing mixed instructions online whether the hood should be open or closed on my model.
