I'm Dr. Camille Powe, an endocrinologist specializing in pregnancy in diabetes — Ask Me Anything about T1D and pregnancy (July 22 @ 3 PM ET)
Hi everyone, I'm Dr. Camille Powe, an endocrinologist with a clinical and scientific focus on diabetes (high blood sugar, hyperglycemia) in pregnancy. I'll be joined by Dr. Amy Valent, DO, MCR, and Camilla Levister, MS, ANP-C, CDCES, for a live AMA (Ask Me Anything) with DiabetesSisters on July 22, from 3–4 PM ET.
For many women living with type 1 diabetes, pregnancy can bring up a lot of questions, fears, and uncertainty. Will pregnancy make my blood glucose harder to manage? How can I prepare for a healthy pregnancy? What should I know before trying to conceive? Will my baby be healthy?
If you've ever had these thoughts, you're not alone. Managing type 1 diabetes during pregnancy often comes with additional planning, lower blood glucose targets, changing insulin needs, and concerns about both your health and your baby's well-being. It can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to navigate it alone.
We're here to give you evidence-based answers, share what we've learned from other patients, and create a supportive, judgment-free space for the questions you've always wanted to ask.
Some topics we'd love to talk about:
- How to prepare for pregnancy when living with type 1 diabetes
- What to expect before, during, and after pregnancy
- How pregnancy may affect blood glucose management and insulin needs
- Common concerns about your baby's health and pregnancy outcomes
- Questions to ask your healthcare team when planning for pregnancy
No question is too big or too small. Bring your concerns, your curiosity, and your experiences — we're here to support you every step of the way.
📅 Join us live here at r/DiabetesSisters on July 22, from 3–4 PM ET. You're welcome to post questions ahead of time or join during the live session — we'll be replying directly in this thread.
