i’ll be the first to say it, anyone else kinda underwhelmed with groove?

Discussion

i’ll start off by saying i’m having a lot of fun with groove and it definitely scratched the itch of wanting a new rhythm heaven game since it’s been so long since the last one. But i noticed that it kind of lost its spark and creativity and it feels like they were solely making a sequel just to make it. if anyone here has played megamix i feel like you must have noticed it too. megamix was on the 3DS which is a weaker system however had amazing ui with each level section having its own theme, a plot, a interactive cafe, brand new games + all the favorites from the original and most importantly gambling! (goat minigame), but for groove they decided to go back to simplicity and just do the square blocks from wii? and what’s the point of the cafe if it just gives you a line of dialogue and then kicks you out? and the remixes are simply just remixes which is fine but i always thought it was cool that the levels in previous games would get new designs to fit the theme. also with megamix, they had far more artstyles that gave each level a breathe of fresh air and didn’t stick to one simplistic art style. they used a mixture of 2d and 3d with some being fully 3d (the hoverboard one) and some having a hand drawn style (the bear eating the donuts) but for groove they seem to stick their signature artstyle which just seems like a step backwards. i would have loved a megamix type game but in 4k quality but its fine, i can’t be the only one who feels this way.
