I seek clarity cause am confused !?

I am a female, and I just got a new job about two weeks now and my family keep telling me to quit and just stay home, when I ask them about an alternative they tell me stay home for now and go back to tutoring when the it's time, although I expressed that I no longer want to do that and I want to try something new, prior to this I had so much free time in my tutoring job, and I did house chores, unlike now. What do you guys think their reasoning behind this behavior ?
