Genuine question regarding children selling flowers and candy
I often see kids of an immigrant / migrant background walking the streets and through various establishments selling flowers, so much so that it has almost become just a daily part of life I don't even question. I also see toddlers on the streets with young mothers selling boxes of candy.
I understand there was a push of migrants from Texas to Chicago a couple years ago, but I am asking more about the logistics. Where are they getting these flowers? Where are these kids staying when they're not out on the street selling these items? Where are their parents while they're selling? I just had a young girl try to sell me flowers in a Lincoln Park coffee shop, and often see this in West Loop too. Why is this the model that many migrants seem to be following?
And finally, I am no fan of ICE. But I am genuinely curious how these kids and parents feel confident walking around or sitting on the street when ICE is deporting migrants all across different parts of Chicago.
I do not mean anything offensive by this post, am genuinely asking.
