I launched my first Android game live on Google Play — sharing the journey and learning

Ask

Hey developers,

I finally launched my first Android game on Google Play after building it from scratch.

The game is called Memory Quest — an emoji card matching puzzle game with stars, packs, leaderboards, and a small “Support the Developer” in-app purchase.

Google Play:

This project helped me learn the complete journey:

idea → UI design → gameplay logic → Google Play Console → screenshots → privacy policy → leaderboard → in-app purchase → production release.

Now I’m trying to learn the next hard part: getting real users, improving retention, getting ratings, and growing revenue.

Would love to hear from other indie devs:

What helped your game get the first 100 / 1000 downloads?

What growth channels actually worked for you?

What mistakes should I avoid?

Happy to answer anything about my Android implementation or launch process too.
