What are some gaming franchises/companies that you successfully learned to let go?

Discussion

What I'm trying to do is find camaradarie with people that learned to let go of something.

Just so you know, I'm really not looking to fight right now, can we please not argue over whether we think a company or franchise is bad, or worse than something else or whatever? I really don't care right now.

I often feel like I'm the only person online that talks about how they let go of certain companies or franchises for anything long ago, and how much I enjoyed my time with gaming afterwards. I mostly hear about people sick of how they keep getting disappointed by their releases again and again.

I'd love to hear about from other people that let something go at least a few years ago, and have continued to do so.

For me, I always think of EA and Ubisoft. I think that companies like Acti and WB are even worse, but they haven't published anything that I really care all that much about since after the early PS4 era.

Electronic Arts has been an absolute joke to me for a long time. The last game that I remember playing for more than an hour that they had anything to do with was Dragon Age 2, and from what I've heard about their games, I made the right decision. I always hear about how most multi-billion dollar game companies are run by execs that don't respect creative people, and I think that EA is the absolute worst in this aspect. I do not believe that anyone in charge of the company will let the devs put out a well executed game.

Even the supposed better games out there like their 2 Star Wars RPGs, I've watched people I know play big chunks of them, and they seem okay I guess, but the bar for both Star Wars Sing Player Action RPGs AND EA is in the lowest pits of hell that I think a lot of people feel like something remotely competent feels like an absolute miracle. I could be way off about this, but when a company has a reputation for mostly putting out games on your platform of choice, and your friends platform of choice that exist primarily to trick 1% of the playbase to go into mass debt, while usually doing the bare minimum to entertain, I kinda don't care enough to try it myself.

Ubisoft I wanna say I gave up entirely after ACValhalla in 2020. I mostly was just checking out mainline Far Cry titles for a while, and I love Far Cry 3-5, and I almost tried 6, but at this point I just don't care anymore, 90% of the content in these games are padding, Not filler, padding! Just an excuse to make you keep playing even though it's neither fun, nor compelling.

On the plus side, Ubisoft is a big part of why I learned that I usually get a better experience out of a game if I treat it like a roller coaster, and mostly stick to the main story.
