Geographical Luck
Just random 12 am thoughts that keep me up. I often think how by just mere geographical luck I ended up in a safe privileged environment. If Allah deemed I could have easily been born in an African remote tribe, worn torn Congo or in a poverty stricken punjabi chak. I am grateful but I also have this guilt too. On the other hand, I have seen people around act so egotistical, curt and superior over their privileges that they earned by mere luck and no effort of their own. It baffles me how un empathetic and vacuous we are as a society. A child on a street does not have same worth as a child born in an 8 kanal house. I mean we get this birth privilege by random strokes of luck then why do we act as if we r better than others? When we could just have easily been born in a slum. People tell me that I am just sensitive and as you grow up you get accustomed to the unfairness of life but it is the opposite for me. As I am growing, I feel more and more unease with the idea of human worth and society’s calculated material worth. I get more and more ick with the society that treats people differently based on where they live, what clothes do they wear, what phone they are holding…
