When does the game fully take off?

Im about 30 hours in, in chapter 3 and just just found Yann.

I like the game but I feel abit off in skills section, the exploration and storyline.

I enjoy the game but I have not gotten fully pulled in yet.

It feels like im just going around in circles helping different people.
