Switch from Blue card to chancenkarte timeline

Hi everyone, I recently received my blue card then unfortunately lost my job. I now have 3 months to find a new position to keep my blue card. I read online that a lot of people switch from blue card to chancenkarte when this happens to extend the amount of time they have to look for alternative employment.
My question is to anyone who has done this before, how long did it take from the time you applied to actually getting your chancenkarte?
I’m not sure if it’s something I should apply for immediately or give it a month or so of job searching.
