SoCal beach recommendation for mom and teen daughter, 3 nights.

I live in NorCal near Redding and want to do a road trip to a beach in SoCal. Never been. Any recommendations? I’m thinking somewhere in OC? Just to hang out and chill. Eat, sight see, maybe a chartered boat trip. Tx!!!
