Spouse Visa, waiting on Marriage Certificate

My wife and I are planning on moving to Scotland as of October of this year, and we were just recently married on May 23rd. We've been living together for over about 2 years 2 months at this point, and had been dating for about a year and a half prior to moving in together. The only thing is we haven't gotten our marriage certificate yet. We live in Ontario Canada right now and from what I can tell it can take upwards of 18 weeks post wedding to potentially have a marriage registered and certificate application to be processed. That puts us out very far, basically right at our desired move date. Is it possible to start an application with whatever proof we can provide now and then provide the marriage certificate when we receive it? Just looking for any guidance on how to proceed with proving our relationship status, and if it's feasible to apply at this point?
