Spiraling about my 37 week delivery for IUGR
I just had my c section booked for 37 weeks due to previa and IUGR (baby measuring 5th %ile). I tried to push for making it to 38 since I historically don’t dilate the early and my BPPs/dopplers have been great, but my team is taking a conservative approach and I won’t be allowed to go beyond 37w0d.
To say I’m nervous and anxious is an understatement. This was never what I wanted for my last baby/birth. My other kids have been vaginal deliveries at 41 weeks, and my first would have likely been categorized as IUGR (was measuring 4.5 weeks behind at 25w) if I had the team I have now. But he as born at the start of COVID shutdown in 2020 and my private practice was pretty subpar. Since my other kids were well “baked” being 41 weekers with such easy vaginal deliveries, I had such a seamless postpartum and exclusive breastfeeding experience.
My delivering hospital has a level 4 NICU so god forbid we need NICU time, my baby will be in the best possible place he could be…but I really wanted to avoid or minimize that reality as much as possible.
If anyone had to have a delivery around 37 weeks with an IUGR baby, could you provide your experience?
