Finally did the real math on what I keep after DoorDash's cut + gas. It's rough.
Sat down this week and actually ran my numbers instead of trusting the in-app total. After the platform's cut and what my car really costs me per mile (gas, maintenance, depreciation), I'm keeping a lot less than it feels like.
So I started looking at alternatives and went down a rabbit hole on pharmacy delivery — partnering directly with independent local pharmacies instead of an app. No 25–30% cut, and it's recurring routes (same patients on monthly refills) instead of random pings. With Rite Aid gone and chains closing everywhere, a ton of these small pharmacies are scrambling to offer delivery and can't afford a fleet.
Has anyone here actually gone direct with a local pharmacy? Curious if the pay/consistency is really better or if I'm romanticizing it.
(I've been writing up what I find in a free newsletter — happy to share the link in a comment if that's allowed.)
