Book Faramir vs movie Faramir???

Ok I haven’t gotten around to reading the books yet, and I was told that Faramirs’ character is ruined in the movies. I was just wondering as someone who hasn’t read the books yet, what are some differences between book and movie Faramir I should know about? I’m really curious since he is one of my favorite characters in the movies.
