Do PI firms use workplace incident data for content or case development?

Question for people who work in legal marketing, especially for PI, workers’ comp, employment, or workplace injury firms:

When a serious workplace accident, fatality, construction accident, or industrial injury is reported publicly, do firms usually research the employer, contractor, or OSHA history as part of marketing or case development?

I’m curious whether that kind of research is actually useful for local content, attorney commentary, intake prep, identifying related companies or contractors, understanding whether an incident may be part of a broader pattern, or deciding whether a matter is worth paying attention to.

Or is this type of research usually too niche, too time-consuming, too hard to turn into leads, or too sensitive from an ethics/compliance standpoint?

For firms that do this well, who usually owns the research - marketing, intake, attorneys, paralegals, investigators, or an outside vendor?
