Med withdrawal due to lack of communication from pharmacy
Location: Indiana
I’m curious if I have a case or any outlet for the following issue. I’m on a number of medications. My pharmacy is part of the clinic I go to. It’s an FQHC.
I use their app for refills. One of the meds I’m on, duloxetine, has some pretty severe withdrawal symptoms. I asked for a refill and it was acknowledged a few days before I run out.
No notifications that it was ready to pick up. After I ran out, I started to go through withdrawal.
When we finally got a hold of them they told us they were out of the drug and all orders for the drug were on hold in indefinitely. When asked since when, it was well before I put my order in.
There was no communication about this until we went looking for it from them. They offered no solutions or assistance just a shrug and brush off.
Because of this I had to go out and find another pharmacy to fill my script last minute already under duress from the withdrawal. Thankfully my fiancee was able to find a small local pharmacy to fill it immediately for me.
