My argument against (generative) AI, and anyone who claims it aids the disabled

Discussion

People with disabilities can do art just fine. They have to learn in a way that suits themselves, and can definitely be at a disadvantage, but they can still learn to draw by using their mouths, feet, ect. If you love art, and have a passion for it, some people even organize clothing, or scrap objects, to make up a grander picture. We bring them up because it's about putting time into learning something they love, or have a passion for. Versus... Typically able-bodied people who use generative AI, and hide behind the excuse that it "helps disabled individuals." It doesn't HELP anybody, because you're not building up a skill, you're not actually doing anything. Imagine you're an AI user, you have images generated... Then maybe something happens to end generative AI, you then lose the ability to prompt images. Let's say you're a digital artist, your art program ends, or whatever happens... You can still draw on paper, it definitely feels different, you have to learn different mediums, especially in color, but you still retain the skill you built up prior. A major part of artistry is "trust in the process," as art can be messy, hard, confusing, or difficult at times. No matter what your skill level is, enough time and work will eventually bring you up to the level you want to be. You'll eventually find your own style, your own methods, shortcuts that may work better for you than the person next to you... With generative AI, it's not your style. It's not a skill. It's a temporary relief for people who want to make art, but can't be bothered to put in the time, effort, energy, and struggle to make it. If you want to make AI generated content, without regard for the environmental impact, then I can't stop you, if you want that temporary satisfaction for something you didn't really even do... Then whatever, but don't go preying upon people and seeking commission.
