Questions about IDP as a minor

I am about to enter Y1 as a JC student and have the following questions about IDP:

1. I want to do both IDP as a minor and go on SEP and based on what I understand, it means that I have to do the internships split apart into the Y1 and Y2 summer break. How do I secure a internship in Y1 summer break as I heard it's pretty hard? Do I have cold call email start ups or is there some sort of help on NUS side?

2. I heard online that IDP mods are particularly tough to score -- is that true?

3. For CDE3301, is this usually done with a company/industry?

4. Do you feel that the hands on experience from IDP helped you land a job? As an Engineering student, I was drawn to IDP as I feel having actual project experience under your belt is great, esp if aligns to my interest.
