For the past two years, I’ve been working on a football simulation game built around watching an entire fictional football world develop.

It isn’t a management game. You don’t control a club, choose tactics, negotiate contracts or manage finances. Instead, every club and national team operates independently while you follow whichever leagues, players and stories interest you.

The current version includes 63 countries and 94 leagues across five continents. Despite simulating all of them together, a complete season takes roughly ten minutes.

The world includes domestic leagues and cups, promotion and relegation, a simplified transfer market, continental competitions such as the Champions League, Europa League, AFC Champions League and Copa Libertadores, as well as international football.

Senior national teams, U-23s and U-20s are all simulated. Matches are text-based, with statistics beyond goals and assists, while the game also records transfers, awards, best elevens, player careers and competition histories.

The part I enjoy most is advancing the world for decades and seeing unexpected stories emerge: a small club gradually becoming a continental power, a minor football nation producing a golden generation, or a once-dominant team disappearing from the top level.

You can continue for 100 years—or potentially much longer—and explore the history created by the simulation.

Club and competition data is stored in editable CSV files, so the football world can also be expanded or modified relatively easily.

The game is currently called Football Fictional World Simulator and is still in development. I’m hoping to release it publicly, possibly on Steam, once it is ready.
