Do your music colors change based on how you feel about a song?
Hi, I'm curious about synesthesia and how it relates to sound. I'm working on a hit song science model, and as a musician myself, colors has always been associated to different parts of music. From my readings, theres several theories on why synesthesia happens. Some suggest stronger connections between sensory areas of the brain, or the opposite, where those connections exist but are normally suppressed. I want to understand if theres a connection between color and music. I want to see if theres a way to attribute certain aspects of a song to different colors, and if a combination of those colors lead to good/bad music.
I have a couple questions for those with synesthesia and would truly appreciate and responses.
-
If you love one song but dislike another with similar notes or chords, do the colors change?
-
Does quality of a song impact the colors?
-
Do songs you consider "good" have different colors or visual patterns than songs you consider "bad," or is there no relationship?
Thanks, I really appreciate any input
