Weird behaviour from neighbours

So about three weeks ago my neighbours partied two days in a row until 12 am. The second day they partied from 2 pm to 1 am. I called non emergency on them once the first night and twice the second night. I am not sure if they knew it was me or not that called on them but the next day while I was cutting the grass, the guy’a wife came up to me and apologized for being excessively loud and explained to me that they were celebrating someone’s birthday. I thought it was a nice gesture so I was basically like it’s all good, whatever. Since they moved in a few years ago they would always have parties like this but we would never say anything to them and didn’t talk to them. From the start we weren’t really welcoming neighbours and I think combined with the lack of communication prompted them to not give a shit about us in regard to these parties, excessive noise. So I decided to change that by writing them a letter with my number apologizing to them for being anti social since they apologized to me for the excessive noise and I congratulated them for having a baby. I end up getting a text from them apologizing again for the noise and he seemed to want to hang out. But ever since they threw that party they have not been in their backyard, haven’t cut their grass in weeks, their house is dead silent with all the lights off and overall just seems like they are avoiding me? I just think it’s strange to text someone wanting to hang out, socialize and then go out of your way to avoid them? I can’t tell if they are mad at me or just super embarrassed to face me? Maybe they are mad because they think it’s me that called the cops? Either way I think I’ve made some progress trying to communicate with them directly and hopefully they be more respectful going forward. I don’t want to have a bad relationship with my neighbour if I can help it and don’t want to spend my entire summer phoning the cops on people who just want to have fun? Idk it may seem like I’m being too nice but ultimately I’m just testing the waters to see if these people are really assholes or just oblivious. I’m def not going to be nice to them if they continue not being nice to me in the future. Do you think my neighbours are acting strange?
