I feel like nothing is happening, what am I doing wrong ?

I feel like nothing happens in the game, I actually have no quests and everyday feels the same. I built a barn, I attended the love night thing with the city but then, still no quest. My objective right now is just to make money by making wine to buy the windmill etc. But what I want is to upgrade my tools so I can clean my house and yard. So I feel like I'm playing the game wrong or I'm missing something...
