I have a 2005 built home, that previous owners replaced AC’s on house in 2013 with a 5 ton and a 3 to unit. Each unit has two zones controlled by it.

Both system are 2 stage units but the 3 ton system never seem to go into stage two. The units use sing stage Honeywell thermostats going to zone HZ322 zone boards and zone boards were used to control when it goes to stage 2.

The 3 ton unit has always had one zone seemingly get lots of air while other one barely getting air meaning you have to get on ladder and put hand by vents just to tell air is coming out in the rooms on zone that seems to get low air.

The 3 ton unit was not coming on at compressor had it checked and low pressure switch holding it out. Original company wanted $1k for leak test and I had another company do one for under $200 visit and test. Evaporator coil is toast.

Think I just will replace unit. But wow these things have gotten uber expensive now.

I have a couple concerns they seem to have boiler price pricing on systems 17.1 seer unit is $13244 includes compressor, evaporator, coil, and 1 new thermostat. (Would need two since I have 2 zones). Also includes new plenum, start collars, dampers, float switches, and drain pan. If I am going to pay to change all this shouldn’t I change the 13 year old zone items. I replaced the rooms with low air flow damper motor last year and that did not completely fix issue. I think other zones damper not closing all the way.

Should I have them change copper lines or use old current system is R410s

Are the prices they are offering normal and with in reason and is this an alright AC brand?
