RRSP Meltdown
Hi all, I’m a bit of a newbie to retirement planning and looking to understand how people make withdrawals in early retirement.
I’m currently in my 30s and have RRSP and TSFA accounts that I’m trying to grow. I’ll likely have much more RRSP assets than TFSA by the time I’m ready to early retirement. Example, $1 million RRSP and $300k TFSA.
From what I’ve gathered so far, it would make sense to draw down the RRSP first, to allow my TFSA money to grow and also push out CPP and OAS start dates. E.g. start taking out $60k per year out of my RRSP accounts until the money runs, and then start CPP/OAS and TFSA withdrawals when needed.

Does this generally make sense?

When taking out RRSP money in early retirement, e.g. age 52, do you just sell your investment and withdraw the money? Pay the withholding tax and then settle up the tax the following year?

Any advice on what frequency of withdrawal makes sense? Monthly, quarterly?
Thank you
