MX-5 written off, need advice
I'm in the UK and have a silver hard top 2007 MX-5/Miata. I was in a no-fault accident where I was rear-ended.
The insurance has written the car off. The exhaust, rear bumper, and passenger side tail light all need replacing as a result of the crash, but the car should be a category N write off, no structural damage.
The car is being valued at £2,800 by the insurance company.
I have two main options.
-
Take the money and let the insurance company salvage the car.
-
Take a lower amount (about £2,200), retain the car and try to sell it on.
it's time for me to get another car anyway. This MX-5 has been wonderful, but it's time.
I'm trying to figure out whether let the insurance company salvage the car or if I should put it on the market cheap.
Aside from damage caused by the accident, the paintwork on the top of the hard top has faded pretty badly and there is some rust on the underside.
Does anyone have any advice on how much I could realistically sell the car for? Would be any takers? I probably wouldn't do any work to it simply so that whoever buys it can do as much or as little as they want with it.
Thanks!
