Beware of this Fake Job & Document Scam at Kolkata Metro Stations!

Hey everyone, I want to alert you all about a highly organized scam happening at metro stations in the city. Recently, a girl approached my friend at the station, acting confused and asking for directions to the Netaji Bhavan platform. She immediately started making overly friendly small talk in a Hindi/Bihari accent, asking if my friend lived in a PG nearby and claiming she herself lived in Bhawanipore. Smoothly, she managed to take my friend's phone under the excuse of searching for her Instagram account and used it to follow herself. Once she felt she had built some trust, she pitched a fake job. She claimed to work a computer/data entry job and offered to get my friend in, promising easy earnings of ₹4,000 to ₹5,000 a week. To "process" this job, she aggressively demanded that my friend send their 12th-grade marksheet. Fortunately, my friend refused. The biggest red flags came later: her WhatsApp account name showed up as a man ("Mr. Nikhil"), and other caller ID searches brought up another male name ("Debiilal Rajak"). This is a classic trap to harvest official documents for identity theft or to eventually demand a fake registration fee. If a random, overly friendly stranger approaches you at a transit hub, tries to take your phone to open Instagram, and offers you a part-time job—walk away immediately and never share your documents! Stay safe out there.
