bf texted his ex and idk if i can trust him again

6 months ago my boyfriend and i met for the second time ever after having a online relationship for like a year, two days after this trip ended he went to England with his mom as a little trip. He used to have an online girlfriend in England a couple years ago i didn’t know of and when he was in England he secretly messaged her saying things like hey i’m in england and i hope you’re doing well i just wanted to say ill always be in love with you and i wanna be your friend but it’s hard to be friends with a guy who’s madly in love with you and your boyfriend wouldn’t like it. he said that convo was around 1 hour long until she decided to not have any further contact again.

Now we live together in my parents house and i got him a new phone and was setting everything up and went into tiktok and saw this chat pop up saying some weird stuff so i clicked on it and read that whole convo and i was crying the whole morning. i woke my bf up to tell him about it and at first he tried to lie about it saying it was an ex of his friend and that convo wasn’t his, after a while i got him to say that yeah it was him saying this but he doesn’t mean any of it. we had a pretty long argument and i went for a walk. when i came back my parents were involved and he had talked to them about the situation and what he had done and how he didn’t mean it and he reached to the conclusion as to why he did it which was because he felt bored and he wanted to get a reaction out of her by saying all that stuff like he’ll never love anyone else like her.

he moved from his country to mine just for me and he paid his work certificate and just gave up a lot to be with me and he keeps saying that no one would do that and then try and cheat with another person. i’m just so stuck and i feel disgusted. this is the only man i ever wanna love in my life and he broke my trust, i don’t feel like i’m good enough because ill never compare to that girl even tho he keeps saying he didn’t mean any of it and it was just for a reaction. he has convinced me he learned from his mistakes because he was really really upset as well and i know he loves me as well, i just don’t know what to do man
