I feel like the guy I am seeing is giving me mixed signals but maybe I am just being super insecure? Please help
This could 100% be in my head. I have no idea. I am a 33yo woman with 4 kids and I just got out of a 10 year marriage in February and I am overweight and insecure and maybe thats why my head is all sorts of messed. If anyone can chime in with what I should do here.. please.
Anyways, I only just started seeing this guy. Like barely a month in. He is a "bachelor", in a sense. 32, no kids, 1 dog, his own place, hasnt been in a relationship since 2018, etc etc. He started kind of pursuing me before I was even formally split from my husband. Not pushy, by any means. But I happen to go in to his work quite often to get supplies for my online business (only supply store in the area) and he started essentially making any excuse possible to follow me around the store and talk to me about his personal life, my personal life, nostalgic memories, etc. That slowly led up to him dropping little hints, such as "Well, I found this really nice restaurant in the next town over and it has the best ribs and steak. I would really like to go again" followed by lingering eye contact, right after me saying I was craving steak. Or me saying that I missed a concert as a kid because I ended up in foster care and him saying "tell you what, if they come back around I will drop everything and bring you". He never formally asked me out. But it was always comments directly related to something I had just said and him placing himself in the scene with me, if that makes sense? And thats how our interactions went. At least twice a week, 30+ minutes of just talking like this from like January to June.
He added me on Facebook in May. Then started the compliments. Every time I wore a dress he was drawn to me. Then he started engaging with me on facebook. Joking, flirting, etc. This is when he asked me out. Nothing spectacular but he knew I was trying to get healthier and he said he knows of this beautiful spot long a river and asked me to join him for a hike. I loved the idea, said yes immediately.
Fast forward to the 20th of June.. he asked if I wanted to come watch a movie and get to know eachother better because he is hardly ever on social media. I said yes. I go there and one thing led to another and we sleep together. It is the best freaking experience I have ever had, to be honest. He was the one to initiate and yes, we both did express sexual attraction before I even went there, so I half expected it to be honest. But the day after, his texting became infrequent. I instantly get in my head, admittedly. I dont text him. I do however go to the store on a day he doesnt typically work because I needed more packing supplies. His truck was not there so I didnt expect him to me, but he was there. He instantly ran over to me, gave me a lingering hug in front of all his coworkers, his boss and his best friend, whom happened to be there as well. He essentially acted like he hadnt just all but ghosted me for 2 days following intimacy. He then followed me outside and stood by my car for 40 minutes just talking to me and said he still wanted to bring me out. I guess what I am saying is that he wasn't "hiding" me or acting ashamed of me in any capacity. He was actually acting the opposite.
Since that point we have hooked up again. We sat and cuddled on his couch for 2 hours afterwards. Every single time I go to his store he hugs me, holds me, follows me to my car, etc. Literally acts like we are essentially together. But he will ignore my texts. He still hasnt brought me out on our date. Like if I tell him "I missed you" in person, he gets giddy and twirls me around his kitchen. If I say it through text, radio silence. But then some days he texts back immediately and continues our conversation for hours and he reassures/validates me. Because one day I did have a bit of a moment and mentioned him going silent on me and basically insinuated that he was going to run away or get sick of me or something (cant remember) and he said "why would I do that?" Or one day he asked what I was having for dinner and I told him, and he said "thats my favorite. Are you going to make that for me one day?" So I said "if I can keep you around long enough 🤣" and he misread the text and responded with "why dont you want to keep me around?" So I said I did want to keep him around and that he might not want to stick around (not my best moment, I know it reads as super insecure - I havent done that since), but he responded with "I dont see why I wouldnt want to stick around."
So I guess basically what I am trying to say is that face to face this guy appears to genuinely like me and he doesnt try to hide it from anyone. And a few times yes, he has validated me through text. But 80% of the time this guy is seriously just radio silent over text so we will go sometimes days without speaking and it makes me think that he doesnt like me. "If he wanted to, he would", comes to mind. If he wanted to talk he would reach out, right? I am just super insecure right now about all of this and I am so not used to this communication style. Can anyone give me some advice here? Thank you!
