Twitch Plays Balatro

Twitch Plays Balatro is live. Chat votes on every blind (whether to skip or not) and the seed to start, you can bet fake in game currency on if the you’ll beat the blind. Emotes in chat swap out the blind coin during a match. Overnight someone got all the way to ante 7 which I was shocked to see when I woke up. !commands will show a list of commands on screen, but you can see the list anytime down in my panels on my about page. There’s a ton of commands you can do to screw around if this ever blows up (with bits) but all the stuff I mentioned prior is without bits.

I did a ton of custom stuff to make this mod and started out as just an idea like two years ago that I dropped and just recently picked back up to finish it.

Balatro in general is a great game but as a developer it’s also a very fun game to mod. Props to localthunk for writing such clean code. Truly

How it works for interested devs:

I built an http server into the game so when the game starts, it boots the server to start accepting commands. Then the commands are routed to the various in game actions. I had to build a controller emulator, in a sense, that activates controller input and then emulates controller actions with all the navigation interactions. But I also built in a new auto gen profile situation, so every Twitch user that interacts gets in game currency immediately to bet with, more every minute spent in stream in case you lose it all (all for fun really). The game receives emotes, downloads and caches them and displays them in game. I built all sorts of voting systems, message queues for actions/effects, queue priority for subs, ALL the logic is in game except for the command routing from Twitch. I use firebot for that. However I DID build a cool thing that, let’s say I add new command to the mod, I have a script that re generates the firebot setup file w the new command and what url to hit that I can then reimport into firebot. Also, I built a script that generates the images for command information for my Twitch panels and in stream command panel that pops out. There’s more to say but I can’t think of it right now fell free to ama

Anyways please check it out and if u love it share it around so it can reach its full potential
