How can you avoid coming across as a total cheapskate when turning down social outings due to a lack of funds, while still seeing your own projects through to completion?

I only earn minimum wage (and right now I’m actually on unemployment benefits while retraining for a new career). And I just don't know how to say no to going out anymore—"Up for a €25 yoga session on the beach? Want to see a stand-up show two hours away for €40? An escape room? Dinner out?"

I’m planning to buy a property—an apartment or a tiny house for myself. Naturally, given my low salary, I have to live a simple lifestyle. Everyone around me earns more than I do and doesn't worry about it. I’ll have a low income in my future career, and I can't earn more because of health issues I’m not comfortable discussing with my loved ones or people in general. So, I end up looking like a total cheapskate, or else I reluctantly agree to the expense.

I spend a lot of money on my health—money I could otherwise put towards leisure activities. But saving is really important to me, so in the end, very little goes into leisure... Anyway, how do you handle this? How do you maintain a social life when you can't spend money? And how do you stand your ground when saying no to others? It makes me so mad that people have normalized the idea that every activity has to involve spending money.
