Who all remembers when stores closed early on Saturdays?

Up until about the late 70s or early 80s, stores would open on Saturdays but then close around 1:00pm or 2:00pm. I know some businesses still do this today. But back 50 years or so stores would open for a half day on Saturday and employees would work six days a week like I remember my mom and an older cousin doing.

My cousin worked at regional department store and only had Sunday as a full day off. If I'm not mistaken people who worked six days a week worked 9-5 M-F which included a one hour lunch. But then also had to work five hours on Saturday.

I
