UAE Criminal Case Involving Former Employer – Looking for Similar Experiences

Criminal Law

I am looking for general information from anyone who has gone through a similar situation in the UAE or has experience with the criminal justice process.

I worked for the same company for approximately 11 years.

After my employment ended, my former employer accused me of failing to remit certain customer payments. My position is that the money was never intended to be permanently kept and that there was no intention to commit fraud.

Separately, I have reported my former employer to the relevant authorities regarding what I believe are serious corporate misconduct issues, including alleged fraudulent financing practices involving false invoices and supporting documents. I have also filed labour complaints with MOHRE concerning unpaid salary, End of Service Benefits, the lack of a termination letter, and workplace harassment.

Current status:
My complaints have been accepted by the relevant authorities.
I understand that the criminal matter has already been referred to the Public Prosecution and has been there for approximately one week.
I have not yet been contacted by the police or the Public Prosecution for questioning.
I have not been arrested or detained.
I intend to cooperate fully and provide all relevant evidence.

I also have separate bounced cheque matters resulting from financial hardship.

Those are unrelated to the employment dispute.

I understand that every case depends on its own facts, and I am not asking anyone to predict the outcome of my case. I would simply like to hear from people who have been through a similar process.

My questions are:
If a case has already been with the Public Prosecution for about one week and I have not yet been contacted, is that unusual?

Has anyone experienced a case where the employer later withdrew the complaint? If so, what happened afterward?

If the employer wishes to withdraw the complaint after it has reached the Public Prosecution, can they do so, or does the Public Prosecution continue the case independently?

If the accused cooperates fully and voluntarily provides evidence, does that generally make a difference?

Approximately how long did your case remain with the Public Prosecution before a decision was made?

Based on your experience, what should I realistically expect over the coming weeks or months?

Thank you to anyone willing to share their experience.
