# 1. Yuji's Famous Slash Isn't the AP/DC Feat People Claim It Is

***The feat doesn't tell us the slash's output***

*One of the biggest assumptions is that compressing Yuji's wide Dismantle into a normal-sized slash would massively increase its AP. The manga never establishes how much cursed energy Yuji actually invested into that attack. He could have poured substantially more output into the larger slash, or he could have distributed the same output over a wider area—we simply don't know. Likewise, we have no idea how much output Yuji can invest into a regular Dismantle, making any comparison with a hypothetical "compressed slash" purely speculative.*

***\[Scan 1\]***

*A useful comparison is Gojo's Blue: later in the series, Gojo uses Blue with significantly higher output than his younger self, yet the technique itself doesn't noticeably increase in size. While this doesn't prove that size and output are completely unrelated, it does demonstrate that a technique's dimensions alone aren't a reliable indicator of how much cursed energy was invested. Because of that, using Yuji's wide slash to quantify the AP of a hypothetical compressed version simply goes beyond what the manga actually establishes.*

*The same thing applies to the 200% Hollow Purple comparison. People often argue that because Purple lost power over distance, Yuji's slash must have done the same. The problem is that Purple didn't just fly for several kilometers and randomly lose its power — it directly hit Sukuna, who reinforced himself with cursed energy, gave up an arm to reduce the damage, and the collision itself caused a huge energy release. Because of that, using Hollow Purple as a way to measure how much power Yuji's slash kept after travelling doesn't really work. If Sukuna hadn't intercepted it, there's nothing in the manga implying that Purple would've just disappeared after around 4 km.*

*Also, comparing a giant ball of energy to a thin slash isn't really a fair comparison.*

***\[Scan 2\]***

***The environmental destruction is often overstated***

*Many people treat the massive dust cloud as proof of overwhelming AP, but the panel itself doesn't clearly show buildings being vaporized by the slash. After the slash travels, it also cuts through large numbers of low-grade curses, which contributes to* *the enormous cloud of debris and smoke. Using the visual effect alone to quantify AP/DC is unreliable, especially when environmental destruction in JJK is often inconsistent.*

***\[Scan 3\]***

***Yuji had already landed a Black Flash beforehand***

*The slash wasn't performed in isolation. Yuji had already chained a Black Flash immediately beforehand, which is relevant context when evaluating the feat. Treating the slash as if it represents Yuji's completely ordinary baseline ignores the state he was in during the fight.*

*Sukuna has performed similar large-scale slashes*

*Another strange argument is that Yuji uniquely possesses these enormous slashes. That's simply not true. Sukuna demonstrated massive Dismantle grids against Kashimo. The fact that Sukuna usually prefers concentrated slashes against stronger opponents arguably suggests those are more practical for single-target combat.*

***\[Scan 4\]***

***Area of effect isn't attack potency***

*Large attacks have better coverage. That doesn't automatically mean they have proportionally higher penetration or AP. We even see Rika generating enormous mushroom-like dust clouds with just CE-enhanced swing, yet nobody argues that those visuals alone put her strikes ≈ buffed Yuji's dismantle. Spectacular environmental effects are not a reliable way to quantify AP.*

# 2. Yuji vs Mahito

***Shibya's destruction***

*This feat is constantly brought up as proof that Yuji's AP is on an entirely different level, with people claiming that Sukuna has never shown anything comparable because Yuji seemingly sliced through all of Shibuya without even making a visible slashing motion.*

*The problem is... that's not actually what happened.*

*If you look closely, the nearby structures are clearly cut apart, but the city in the distance is still standing. The feat covers a large area, but it isn't "Yuji cut all of Shibuya in half." The panel is drawn to create a dramatic sense of scale—which definitely succeeded, judging by how often it's cited—but the visible destruction doesn't support city-level claims.*

*Mahito's condition also matters here. Maru states that Mahito doesn't have much cursed energy left and had only temporarily regained his strength. That alone raises the question of whether this should even be treated as peak Shibuya Mahito.*

*On top of that, we know virtually nothing about the durability of the soul landscape itself, nor the structures created through Idle Transfiguration of weaker version of Mahito. Using this feat to derive precise AP values is therefore much less straightforward than people make it seem.*

***\[Scan 5\]***

***About Yuji's "Soul Damage"***

*Another misconception is that Yuji's slash suddenly grants him unrestricted soul damage against anyone.*

*The slash was performed inside soul world. By that logic, almost anything interacting with Mahito there would be considered "affecting the soul." Even Maru suggests finishing Mahito off, but nobody argues that this gives him unique soul-hax comparable to Yuji.*

*Yuji's actual ability is much more specific. What he demonstrates throughout the Sukuna fight is the ability to perceive the boundary between Sukuna's and Megumi's souls and deliberately target that boundary. His slashes inherit that property through the Binding Vow, making them exceptionally effective against reincarnated sorcerers sharing a body.*

*Nothing in the manga suggests this automatically*

*translates into generic soul damage against ordinary sorcerers. If Yuji truly ignored conventional durability and directly attacked souls regardless of the target, there would be little reason for Gege to repeatedly emphasize the boundary between Sukuna's and Megumi's souls. The manga consistently presents that boundary as the reason his attacks are effective.*

***\[Scan 6\]***

***Yuji's hand-in-pocket feat***

*Another argument I often see is that Yuji can release enormous slashes without dramatically swinging or guiding them with his hand, supposedly making this a unique application for him. However, Sukuna has repeatedly demonstrated that , so duh 🫩*

# 3. Additional Notes

***Yuji's CE Control Isn't Comparable to Six Eyes***

*Many people heard the statement that Yuji only revealed his cursed energy at the moment he was about to strike, and suddenly started glazing him as if he had Six Eyes-level CE control.*

*The problem is that this isn't portrayed as a unique feat. High-level sorcerers have repeatedly demonstrated the ability to suppress or conceal their cursed energy until the moment they attack. Yuta does this to avoid being sensed before striking, and Sukuna himself has both openly released his cursed energy (Culling Game) and completely concealed it (Shibuya) depending on the situation.*

*What actually makes Gojo's control exceptional isn't simply hiding or releasing CE. The manga repeatedly emphasizes that the Six Eyes grant him absurd cursed energy efficiency, to the point where Sukuna is only considered superior in efficiency if Gojo didn't possess the Six Eyes. That's an entirely different narrative point. Equating Yuji's concealment feat with Six Eyes-level control ignores what the story explicitly highlights as Gojo's defining advantage.*

*Some people also point to Yuji reproducing multiple Supernovas as evidence of comparable control. It's certainly an impressive display of skill, but reproducing a technique isn't the same thing as demonstrating the near-perfect CE efficiency that defines Gojo or Sukuna. They're simply different feats.*

***\[Scan 8\]***

***"Narratively, Yuji is meant to rival Dabura"***

*This is one of the most common narrative arguments. But being able to rival someone doesn't automatically mean matching every single one of their stats.*

*In fact, the manga itself also establishes Dabura as the only person in history to ever achieve Sub-Rel. If you accept the narrative when it says Yuji can rival Dabura, you also have to acknowledge the narrative that presents Dabura's Sub-Rel feat as unique. You can't selectively accept one statement while ignoring another simply because it's inconvenient.*

*Rivaling someone can mean reaching a similar overall level through a different skill set, not necessarily copying every physical parameter or ability they possess.*

***\[Scan 9\]***

***Narrative potential isn't the same as combat statistics***

*Gojo believed Yuji had the potential to reach or even surpass him, and the story also frames Yuji as someone capable of standing alongside Sukuna. None of that is controversial.*

*The problem is assuming those statements automatically translate into every individual stat. Potential tells us what a character may ultimately become—it doesn't establish that they inherit every advantage or equal every attribute of the characters they're compared to, whether that's Gojo or Sukuna.*

*A character can surpass someone overall while still falling short in specific areas. Otherwise, we're just turning Yuji into the new "Potential Man."*

***\[Scan 10\]***

***"Yuji has Fuga, WCS and Anti-Gravity"***

*This is probably one of the weakest arguments.*

*Yuji has only demonstrated Dismantle and Cleave. Nothing in the manga shows him using World Cutting Slash or Anti-Gravity. As for Fuga, it's possible that Yuji could possess it since Gojo stated that Sukuna's Shrine would eventually be engraved into his body. However, the manga has never shown Yuji using Fuga or confirmed that he has access to it, so treating it as part of his current arsenal remains speculative.*

*Even if Yuji has Fuga, that doesn't automatically mean he has Sukuna's strongest version of it. Sukuna's most devastating use of Furnace wasn't just the technique itself—it relied on multiple Binding Vows and the unique interaction with Malevolent Shrine. The Domain continuously reduced everything to dust, imbued those particles with Furnace's explosive cursed energy, and then ignited them into a thermobaric explosion.*

*Yuji has never demonstrated that kind of Domain interaction or setup. At best, he could only be argued to possess the standard version of Fuga(Shibya fight).*

*WCS in particular isn't just "another slash." Sukuna only acquired it after observing Mahoraga's adaptation and understanding the new targeting method. Simply inheriting Shrine doesn't automatically grant the knowledge Sukuna developed during that battle. Assuming Megumi somehow transferred that information to Yuji has no support in the manga.*

*Likewise, Anti-Gravity was Kaori Itadori's technique. Being related to someone doesn't automatically grant access to their CT. If it did, we'd have to start handing inherited techniques to countless characters with no evidence.*

***\[Scan 11-12\]***

***Yuji still lacks many of the abilities that define the top tiers***

*Even by the end of the series, Yuji hasn't demonstrated:*

*—an open-barrier Domain;*

*—Sukuna/Yuta-level CE reserves -> means he can run out;*

*—Gojo/Sukuna-level RCT proficiency;*

*—Domain Amplification, Hollow Basket;*

*—or the absurd CE efficiency, ouput or reinforcement repeatedly attributed to Gojo and Sukuna.*

*His Black Flash consistency is genuinely exceptional and deserves credit, but that doesn't automatically bridge every gap between him and the strongest*

*sorcerers.*

***Experience isn't a free scaling multiplier***

*Another argument is that Yuji should massively outscale because of the amount of experience he accumulated.*

*Experience certainly matters—but it doesn't automatically translate into every possible stat increasing indefinitely.*

*Kenjaku lived for over a thousand years and still wasn't simply above everyone else because of age alone. Likewise, saying Yuji trained or fought for decades doesn't automatically prove he mastered every advanced application of jujutsu. Those improvements still need to be demonstrated.*

*The only major high-level feat we can confidently point to is the Shinjuku battle. After that, Yuji largely distanced himself from the jujutsu world, and we have little to no evidence that he continued facing top-tier opponents on a regular basis.*

# Conclusion:

*Yuji has grown into one of the strongest sorcerers of his era, capable of performing incredible feats. But that doesn't automatically mean he surpassed—or even matched—Gojo and Sukuna in every aspect. The story portrays him as someone with immense potential and a worthy successor, not as a character who inherited every exceptional ability, stat, or level of mastery they possessed. None of this is meant to downplay Yuji's strength or deny that he improved during the timeskip. The point is simply that many of the conclusions people draw about his current level go well beyond what the manga actually demonstrates.*
