My dog has pus in his paw

Just woke up and caught him limping. Found out that he had pus in his paw and my traditional parents told me to just pop it, I'm not an adult I can't really do much besides asking for help here on reddit. I did a few searches and most instructed to refrain from popping it, what should I do? I've tried to convince them to take him to the vet, but they think they know better.
