Funny thing happened to me two months ago
I don't really think this is a vent, just something I kinda wanted to share. Though I do have a tendency to randomly start venting when I don't mean to, so who knows?
Okay so basically I went to my grandma's house with my mom and my dad to spend time with them. The second day I was there, my mom invited me to get lunch with my uncle and my other grandma (my mom's mom. The grandma I was staying with was my dad's mom.) and I accepted because I like meeting my family on my mom's side, even though they're all fucked up mentally in some way.
My uncle is really cool and I enjoyed talking with him. He has ADHD but I don't mind because I know he means well even if he messes up socially or whatever. but about mid-way through the conversation my mom and him were having, he insinuates I was autistic. And like, cool, because my siblings already said so like 4 years ago.
But the kicker? My mom doesn't deny it?? She just says "Oh, we don't get them diagnosed." <- it wasn't stated in this conversation but my parents have a very strong hard-work ethic, and they've said something in the past similar to "We don't want you [guys] using something as a crutch", So I think that's why she said that.
Anyways, after that, my uncle backpedals and eventually my mom leaves to use the bathroom. I ask my uncle about it and he says (in a very serious tone of voice) "Yes," and he then proceeded to list some things I did in the whole lunch that were, like, missed cues or something? "I've known you since you were very little."
And honestly I'm a little confused but I mainly just don't know what to think.
I find this funny also because when I was 6 some lady tried to tell my mom that I had Down Syndrome.. (which I do not because I don't even have any physical characteristics of it!)
I wanna get more answers about it because I can only receive information about it (my autism) in secret because my parents "don't want me to know" and that I'm "not supposed to know, they didn't tell you." But I can't because I have to pretend to be dumb and oblivious! Gah!!!
